Well, you are a Lucky guy. Almost day one preorder in Switzerland and I have nothing. And I read thats in stock and a lot of lambda people can just go and buy one directely in good stores. Thansk a lot black magic. You forgot to respect customer and to respect communication...

The last few weeks B&H NY said it will take 2-4 months to ship the BMPCC, now the website says "This item is backordered by the manufacturer. Order now and we'll deliver when available."

I talked to someone from Blackmagic last week and she told me that they are shipping in good numbers to the reseller partners. I find this statement a little conflicting...

So what's going on here? I don't want to wait until next year :(

Being backordered doesn't mean you aren't shipping.
Just that there are pending orders that can't be shipped just yet.

CVP said my order from 2013-04-08 18:38 CET is now in stock.

You're absolutely right. I was just wondering why B&H has nothing in stock while Blackmagic is shipping big quantities now.

They set the shipping on 2-4 months when Blackmagic wasn't shipping in good numbers.
And now they say that even less items are in stock, while Blackmagic ships more of them.

I don't quite understand it. And a little more transparency would be great...

Sorry I'm a little confused about the date you gave me. Does that mean 4th of August?
I ordered mine on 8th August, and it's still out of stock... Maybe I should have ordered in Europe too... But the prices are always lower in the US. I live in Switzerland.

April the 8th.
If it where a US-Date it would be written in this insane 04/08/2013 format.

Oh... well then... I think I have to wait a couple more weeks :|

I'd be okay with that if Blackmagic gave us some more information about how it is going with production and shipping...

Hey Sierra, where did you preorder it? BH?

I'm in Switzerland too and I preordered in May in NextWay! And still nothing... But few days ago, PBS-video had stock! I can't follow how the BMPCC are distributed in Europe or in stores...

Someone could explain? :?

By the way Sierra, you will pay Swiss taxes right?

Hey Tatum

Yes, I placed my preorder on 9th August at B&H.
I know, none of the stores here have it in stock. I assume you are "Suisse Romande" if you order from NextWay and talk about PBS? Seems like PBS has better availability than most other stores... I don't get it either.

Taxes? If you want to ask if I'm going to pay duty on the BMPCC, yes I guess, but never thought about it... Probably still cheaper than buying one in Switzerland.

Okay, I think you did the good choice for B&H. Because yes, I'm in "Suisse ROoomande" (sorry for the accent I'm not Swiss haha). And I think I'll buy in PBS (hors taxes) and ask to apply only Swiss duty. Maybe more expansive than US but faster.

By the way I think in Switerland, you pay only 100 extra$, considering you have to pay shipping cost + swiss duty when you buy it in US + only US garanty (I think?).

Anyway, that's not solving the problem : still angry with this lack of communication. And no respect for pre-orders...

This is not my native language either ;)

Yeah you're probably on a better way with PBS. But wait until they confirm the order and the delivery date, could be that NextWay is faster anyway... And in the end you pay twice :-/

I don't know how high the costs are for importing the camera, but you're right, I'm gonna pay the same amount probably...

All I know is that I'm sick of waiting... And all I want is a little statement from Blackmagic.

Hello Christine Peterson, are you here with me, with us?

I have a simple question. I found out the black magic world only one-two month(s) ago. I'm selling my VOIGTLANDER 17,5mm f0.95 because i want the BMPCC but its crop factor is simply too much, and i need i wider lens (maybe a 12mm to have a 35mm equivalent, just the right way. Yeah, for me 50mm is simply too much). I red about 995$ to have the pocket, and just said to me: Ok, i take it, even its sensor is 1" (there are no plans to update it, right? Maybe a m43 sensor? Cause if it is so, i just don't sell my perfect lens).

Anyway, i'm in Italy, and DON'T FIND A SINGLE BMPCC that cost me 995$! Ok, the tax, ok the vat, ok everything. But VAT IS EVERYWHERE, in every country, which more, which less. Here in Italy, price rise up to 950 EURO. NOT MY 730 EURO. UP TO 1000 euro, pratically. And then, you want to make this FANTASTIC "announcing blackmagic pocket cinema camera" for YOUR 995$?

Is it possible you don't have an office from where to ship the BMPCC? From Australia, from where you want, just to declare a lower value in the package, for this ABSURD rising of the price and for the huge custom tax? Is it possible there's such this situation?

I don't know if i'm in mistake, or this situation is "normal"..

Now that problems are solved, i would like to have my bmpcc with its firmware updated and recalibrated sensor.

By the way, why do you sell the 17mm ? In fact anyway, just give me your price and I buy it haha

I don't know where you are, but, anyway, you can read here all on:

personal view -> /talks/discussion/8469/fs-ue-olympus-o-md-e-m5-nokton-175mm-f0.95

Nokton for 830-840 euro.

Simply 50mm is too much for me.

I ordered months ago from B&H but finally gave up on it, canceled my order when i heard a little computer store in Milwaukee had them coming in each week with a tiny pre-order list. 10 days later i have mine!

Big thanks to Safe Harbor Computers!

Can't wait to get shooting with my new cam!

Oh, that's just a joke, don't worry.
Just to remember to price drop and a new announcement each year. You know "Oh! the BMC 2.5K with m4/3 mount", "Oh, the 4K", "Oh a future active m4/3 mount", "Oh a pocket camera"... I would not be surprised by a "NEW and fantastic announcement from BlackMagic".

Oh, all right :)

I've cancelled my order yesterday... I think I'll wait until the BMPCC is on the market for a while, so the little mistakes and errors in V.1 can be eliminated. The availability will probably get better too...

I'm going to get myself a DSLR instead. A Canon T5i (700D) or a 60D maybe...

But I'm definitely going to buy a Blackmagic Camera in the future :)

I think you're totally right.

I'm still waiting for a last hope (an answer from BMC in UK). If no news, I cancel friday my pre-order. Like all my colleagues in Switzerland I think.

I'll invest in some nice lens I think. I have still my panasonic GH2.

By the way, I ask to the Swiss distributor, there is his answer :

"Hi Alexandre,

unfortunately we cannot give you any concrete information as to when you
can expect to receive your camera - we simply do not know quantities and
dates of camera shipments to us.

Please also be aware that on the web, speculations and opinions about
everything related to this subject tend to take on a life of their own,
and are not necessarily based on facts.

I`m afraid the only option we all have is to patiently wait.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
Gerhard Buchner"

The Joke...

A nice lens is always a good investment :)

The answer from the distributor is not really deep... Apparently they don't know what's going on either... :-/

I think I'm going to buy a Canon 70D, we'll see if it's worth the price... :)

Héhé not bad!

Just for the fun, the last answer for the same question, but from BMC in UK (sending camera to resellers)

"Hi Alexandre

Thank you for your email.

We have started to ship the Pocket Cinema Camera in much bigger quantities but as you can imagine we are still fulfilling the large number of back orders for this product. We are distributing these evenly to our resellers across Europe and while we have seen the number increase over the recent months I can not guarantee an exact shipping date for you.

If you have any further queries do not hesitate to contact me.

Best Regards

Matt"

Deep.

I hope you'll enjoy this new camera :D

Ordered mine on April 9th 2013, with cvp.com in UK

As yet, I have had no information regarding its shipping status.

Their website states Nov 30th. But I would imagine that is for new customers. My feelings are that Pre-order folks have paid for the entitlement to be kept in the loop.

I run my own company, I don't see the harm in posting regular updates even if it is to notify of delays. Transparency is key to keeping clients.

I ordered mine on the day it was announced through CVP. It arrived last Thursday. All I can say is hang in there. It's worth the wait. I recognise all the cameras faults, no levels, no histogram, no remaining media indication etc etc. I don't mind the battery situation. It keeps it small and portable. It shoots a beautiful image - on another level to a non hacked DSLR. (I would never use the RAW hack on a job). I have two lenses for it - the Lumix Panasonic 12-35 2.8 and the Olympus 60mm 2.8 Macro. So impressed by these but will probably add at some stage the Voigtlander Noktons. Oh and I've added the Viewfactor cage which is an equally superb piece of kit. Here is a bit of footage shot the afternoon it came and hastily put together and graded in FCPX. All of it shot at a 144 degree shutter and mostly wide open and hand held.
http://iainphilpott.smugmug.com/Beauty/IJP/9749791_WTRSVn#!i=2876556669&k=7zFbtbx

It's going to be fun learning how this camera ticks and how to get the best out of it. My only regret is I didn't order two of them.

It's all of those things really. In the studio to mount things, handheld it just gives you more to grip if not using a shoulder rig or something, and then, aside from my fashion/beauty work, I shoot marine stuff that I'm being thrown around in a RIB so offers a lot of protection.

I have one BMPCC and even on box there is information about support for that format.
It isn't fair advertise that product as camera with ProRes and RAW.

I just spoke to cvp.com

They are processing orders based on the time stamp and they are currently fulfilling orders placed up to 8pm on April 8th. They told me they have 90+ orders between where they are now and where I am on the list (approx 6pm on the 9th).

The orders are being filled at a rate of 7 per week.

That is what I consider to be very clear and transparent information from a supplier.

Still, I can get the camera elsewhere if I want, but cvp have earned my patience through being so helpful just now.

I had a similar information today!

Distributor are still waiting for 80 BMPCC before I have a chance to be in the good "pool" to get mine.
So, I think I'll just cancel! And forget BlackMagic!

Have still a lot a fun with my GH2!

I ordered mine last week and received it the very next day. I'm thinking if you pre-ordered and you're still waiting, maybe you're better off seeking a reseller internationally that's willing to ship the product overseas.

So RAW has arrived……..So looking forward to it……..So shot all RAW today……imported in to Resolve 10 Lite……..Now the 5th time its reached a point and just 'hung' because of a dropped frame……And people wonder why Sony don't go out of business????????? For all the advantages of RAW??????? Not worth it till the bugs are sorted…..going back to ProRes.

And it's written the first clip to where it's supposed to be then every subsequent clip to I don't know where. It's certainly not in the folder that the first one is. It's not on the external drive that it was supposed to be writing to and it certainly is not on the computer…….86% of 61gb is somewhere - I just don't know where? Nothing comes up in a search. This really sucks.

a) Black and White shooting option.
b) 21:9 frame option.

Another wise thing, in my opinion, would be good quality microphone system on board, something like zoom H4 type and quality. I don't think any camera maker decided to go that way yet.

I just got off with customer service for the 2nd time and can confirm that Black Magic will not be manufacturing more cameras because of the holiday season. This is incredibly worrying as another user stated that B&H was scheduled for a shipment last week and they received 3... 3 cameras. Think about that. Not 300, not 30... 3. The sales rep told me the production for the camera will not change. He 'assured' me that they are sending out large quantities of cameras (I'm not too sure I believe this). I ordered my camera in October and was hoping to receive it at the very latest a month after, but I'm almost loosing all hope I'll even get it in February of next year. This is absolutely ridiculous. How could Black Magic not have prepared for something like this? Obviously people want to buy the camera, so why stunt your sales and production by only shipping out literally 3 cameras to each reseller. It's a shame this camera has received so much attention and become a favorite among 'youtubers'. I was on the hype train too... but it's honestly a joke. I may move away from Black Magic entirely and go with the Canon cinema lineup.

PostThu Nov 15, 2018 11:15 pm

First off, this is thread is in regards to the Pocket Cinema Camera. Not the Pocket Cinema Camera 4K.

Secondly, manufacturing goals would not be changing due to holiday shipments. These are being shipped out as quickly as possible to distributors and from there, to the resellers to fulfill orders in the order they received them.

Last thing to bring up here is that ordering this in October will most likely push you farther down the list as this camera has had orders from resellers since April. you may want to look in the Cinematography section to see what people are getting as far as shipments. Also, locking this thread as this in no longer a relevant thread.
