Decklink 8K Pro as four 4K monitor outputs

PostWed Mar 18, 2020 11:31 am

Hello,

I currently have 4 AJA Ha5-12G (HDMI -> 12G SDI converters) plugged to a computer, which "sees" them as 4 external monitors, as I want.

It's all fine and good, but it would be amazing if I could replace the 4 AJAs by a Decklink 8K Pro, to directly output in SDI and thus reduce the cable mess.

Would that be possible? If not, does someone know a graphic card having 4 12G SDI outputs rather than DisplayPort or HDMI?

Thanks in advance

Nope. Decklink card will not work as graphic card. It even needs a GPU from the graphic card to render its outputs.. ;)

But you can only send video trough the drivers.. Decklink will not display or extend your desktop..

Yes, the idea is not to avoid using the graphic card, it's to somehow "plug" the graphic card to the Decklink card. I'm also open to other brands, but for now didn't find it.

EDIT: playing with xorg a little bit (https://askubuntu.com/questions/453109/ ... plugged-in) might do the trick: generate 4 dummy displays, and use GStreamer or Decklink SDK to output these dummy displays to the Decklink card.
