Video Recorder with V4L2

PostFri Aug 09, 2013 7:39 am

Hello!

Can I use Video Recorder with V4L/V4L2? Or I need the SDK? I just have to grab and show the images in a window. I'm using Ubuntu.

Thanks a lot

SDK.
Decklink cards are not exposed as V4L devices.

Which SDK should be used for the Video Recorder product?

If the 'DeckLink' SDK doesn't work with V4L2, should we use the 'ATEM Switchers', 'HDLink', or 'Videohub' SDK for the "Video Recorder" product?

There is no V4L support of any kind for any products.

Also the Video Recorder doesn't have any linux or windows support. It is a simple USB2 Mac video product that uses only an end user SW written by BMD to support MacOSX. The link below may help clear more things up for you.

That's a great shame. This is a neat little device and BMD would be able to sell many, many more of them if a Linux driver were available. Even if only the USB comms protocol was made open, someone in the Linux community would be able to implement a V4L2 driver for it, making it accessible to hundreds of thousands of Linux and Android developers worldwide.

Pity: I'll have to keep looking for a suitable device!

Thanks.

I personally don't know what our developers have in mind for this but I do know they pop on the forums from time to time to see what's being talked about. While it's always a possibility, I can't say/don't know that it will happen in any sort of time frame.
