Using two Thunderbolt devices - only one detected

PostThu May 07, 2020 3:58 pm

Hi there,

a customer using two Intensity Thunderbolt Shuttle devices just told me that only one device shows up in our software. As our software generally doesn't have issues using more than one Blackmagic device (I just tested with a DeckLink Duo and a DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+), I was wondering if this is a known issue?

I unfortunately only have one Intensity Thunderbolt Shuttle here so I can't test that unfortunately...
Customer's using an iMacPro with the latest BM drivers and software.
We're currently using version 10.6 of the SDK as we need support for macOS 10.11.

Thanks for all information you can provide!

Hi Flo,

Can you find out from your customer how these devices are connected?
I can connect to 2 separate devices using the two Thunderbolt ports on my iMac without issue.
However daisy-chaining may be different.

Tested with an Ultrastudio 4K Extreme 3 (Thunderbolt 3) and Ultrastudio Mini Recorder (Thunderbolt 2 with a Thunderbolt2->3 adapter)
Desktop Video 11.5.1
Apple iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

When I tested daisy-chaining out of the Ultrastudio (thunderbolt 3) into the Mini Recorder (thunderbolt 2) it did not work, but this may be due to the converter.
Unfortunately, I do not have another thunderbolt 3 device in my remote setup to test with.
