Plugin for getting audio from file

PostSat Sep 25, 2021 11:44 am

There is a problem with Linux version of dr. It cannot decode aac audio. Here is the topic: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=102620

I wanted to ask, if it is real to make such a plugin, that will get an audio stream from outside of dr and stream it to dr. I have no idea currently of how programming for dr is done and in which form, but I guess it may be a OpenFX/ResolveFX plugin.

The idea is the following. You place your mp4 files to the timeline, then add a node of that plugin (color page, timeline, openfx, like shown in NobeDisplay ). If the dr could somehow tell the plugin a filename of clip under playhead, then plugin could match it with the actual file in your file system, open an ffmpeg process to decode audio (it will be aac audio from inside mp4 or mov file), then stream it back to dr.

Could such thing be done?
