Where are the SDK materials?

PostThu Dec 30, 2021 11:30 pm

I've spent quite a bit of time, starting here: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/developer

Looking for actual, downloadable SDK components. Aside from downloads for the raw SDK, I don't see any links to other SDKs, like that for camera control.

What gives? Thanks.

They're all in their respective categories under the support page.

32GB DDR4-3600
RTX 3090
DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G

Thanks for the reply, but no.

For example, go under "cameras." There are a few links to raw-SDK versions, but that's it.

Also, they don't belong in that area anyway. There's an entire developer page: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/developer/. There should be links to SDKs prominently shown there.

Is the developer program discontinued?

That's too bad. This is an area where BMD has shown some real innovation. The Arduino/SDI control interface is a good example.

Sorry, but this is a pretty weird take. The last Desktop Video SDK was released December 10th, and is located where ALL the Blackmagic downloads are... Sure, the downloads themselves can be somewhat hard to find for new people if you're judging from all the posts in Getting Started, but it's not like they're not making updates.

As far as I know, the only "SDK products" are Desktop Video (Decklink, UltraStudio product lines), BMD RAW, VideoHub and ATEMs.

What's a "weird take?" Expecting the developer materials to be on the Developer page? Most manufacturers do not mix end-user downloads with SDK materials. Look at Canon, Sony, and others. In fact, many of them (certainly Canon and Sony) require you to sign up for an SDK program. And they offer a special area or site for developers, as BMD does on its site. The problem in BMD's case is that it's missing a bunch of materials.

For example, where is the camera remote-control SDK (for Bluetooth, and possibly network)? There's documentation there but no code (even in the doc). And what about the one for controlling BMD cameras through the SDI port with an Arduino? Those are just two I can think of offhand.

Documentation about control of Cameras is included in the Camera Manual / Manual of the SDI shield.. And download the Sdi shield software you get the arduino libraries..

Run the example and go from there..

Bluetooth never been released but there is someone on the forum that completely figured it out and published a library for that..

Network control of bmd UB2 is not available at all as it is still in development and also not published. Not even to beta testers..

But yes there is a lot of info just scattered around.
