How to access raw SDI (SMPTE 348) bits?

PostWed May 17, 2023 3:24 pm

Hi BlackMagic Support Team,

Is there a way to run capture on with the Decklink SDK to capture the raw incoming data bits without parsing them into a BMDPixelFormat?

I am an engineer working with Lockheed Martin, and we've been using your DeckLink cards for years.

Now, we have an SDI video input to DeckLink Quad 2 card. The incoming video stream uses the SMPTE 348 standard for the physical layer. However, it uses a non-standard data format to encode both video and metadata.

I was able to parse the incoming capture into an IDeckLinkVideoInputFrame with BMDPixelFormat::bmdFormat10BitYUV and reverse engineer some of the data bits out of the stream. However, the order was mixed up and they were mixed in with the luminescence and chrominance bits in the data structure.

Thanks, Dan
