Decklink Micro Latency

PostSat Mar 23, 2024 4:47 pm

Wondering if anyone has any pointers or secret tricks to minimize latency on the Decklink SDI micro? Looking to use it as an overlay: capture the incoming frame, short overlay program in the input callback and then send straight to output in the same format as the input format.
It seems that streaming and processing time aside there's a bit of a delay before the output frame releases, presumably tied to sync'ing in and out frames? We have no Genlock, no audio, and don't care about keeping the input and output frames in any kind of sync relative to each other, just want to get the output frame out the door as quickly as possible. Linux system, Decklink API. The overlay portion is not the issue, we're pretty happy with the processing times we're achieving. Totally understand that the internal keyer is the best option here, but the Micro doesn't support it and we're trying to stay with that form factor.
TIA
Jon
