Accessing both SDI input channels

PostFri Apr 17, 2015 10:08 am

I have a Decklink 4K Extreme 12G and I am having a problem with accessing the 'second' SDI input channel. If I connect a SDI source into SDI In A (using this diagram as reference: https://images.blackmagicdesign.com/med ... me-12g.jpg) I can successfully receive frames, however SDI In B is always empty, even when using the same SDI source.

I had some code I wrote for an old Decklink Quad where I could get access to both of the input channels by accessing them as separate devices using the DeckLinkIterator interface. This method does not work on the 4K Extreme, which appears as a single device.

Does anyone know how to access both input channels on a 4K Extreme?

The Decklink 4k Extreme (regular and 12G) have inputs A and B. Those models are not multi - channel and do not function like the Decklink DUO or Quad. The A and B connections are for dual link support or 3D stereographic support.

The output are the same scheme with A and B or alternately, A can be Fill and B can be Key for graphics support.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your reply.

The video stream I have is a stereo stream where each eye is on a separate SDI channel (the signals are synchronised and the display format is PAL.)

When I try to run the capture applications with stereoscopic support switched on they fail as PAL is apparently not supported. Is there anything I can do to get stereo to work with this setup?

Thanks,

Max

HI Max -

It is not clear that PAL output for SDI stereoscopic HDMI is supported. Are you supporting SD Format Support
525/29.97 NTSC, 625/25 PAL via a 3D Sterecscopic TV? Also, have you used Media express do to this playout?
3D is only supported officially in our desktop video SDK and not directshow or WDM filters. Media express uses the SDK.

I have only seen HD level HDMI 3D usually from two SDI sources input and HDMI output. I would suggest you contact our HW Support if you have tried above and not working.

Thanks, Matt
