Any success with Linux kernel 4.x.x?

PostTue Aug 25, 2015 4:28 am

I've recently upgraded the first of my systems to kernel 4.1.6 (from 3.18.11). Installation of desktopvideo (10.4.3) seemed normal - dkms built & installed the modules (which load OK). At end of the installation was a notification that firmware update was needed, however all attempts to update firmware just time out without success. Consequently no decklink device is available to the system.

There were other system updates at the same time as the kernel update so, to rule out those other updates as the cause of the problem, I reverted just the kernel to the previous 3.18.11 version and everything went back to normal.

My questions is whether any Linux user is having success with 4.x.x kernel (if so, which one)?
