Film Riot YouTube Channel and Podcasts Use Blackmagic Design

PostFri Oct 08, 2021 1:57 pm

Blackmagic Design today announced that Triune Films is using ATEM Mini Pro ISO live production switchers and DaVinci Resolve Studio to stream and edit its popular “The Film Riot Podcast” and “Variant” podcasts, which reach a combined audience of 2.4 million. The Texas based production company is also using a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro and more to capture content for its YouTube channel, Film Riot, which reaches more than 1.8 million subscribers.

Ryan Connolly, filmmaker and owner of Triune Films, launched the Film Riot YouTube show in 2009 as a resource for aspiring filmmakers, producing weekly videos that explore the art of filmmaking. With more than 1,200 videos on the channel, Film Riot’s content has been viewed more than 204 million times. In 2012, Triune Films launched the popular comic book YouTube show “Variant,” followed by “The Film Riot Podcast” in 2018, which features talented and innovative creators ranging from directors to stunt coordinators. Most recently, Triune Films launched the “Variant” podcast in 2019.

To keep up with the demands of producing a weekly podcast and uplevel its look, the “Variant” crew relies on three Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K digital film cameras and an ATEM Mini Pro ISO for multi camera switching and live editing. Leveraging the ATEM Mini Pro ISO’s ability to create a DaVinci Resolve project file, the team can quickly adjust edits in post.
