Dangerous Animals Graded with DaVinci Resolve Studio

PostTue Aug 19, 2025 10:03 pm

Blackmagic Design has announced that Sydney based colorist Ferg Rotherham used DaVinci Resolve Studio to grade “Dangerous Animals,” a terrifying look at a serial killer who uses sharks as weapons. To help capture the right look and feel for the mixed genre film, Rotherham relied on a number of DaVinci Resolve Studio’s AI features, including InteliTrack and Magic Mask.

“Dangerous Animals” is a 2025 survival horror film directed by Sean Byrne and starring Jai Courtney, Hassie Harrison and Ella Newton. Focusing on a shark obsessed serial killer and a surfer that he kidnaps, the film brings together two of the great horror film genres: shark attacks and serial killers.

While both film genres share much of the same energy and dark visuals, “Dangerous Animals” needed to look and feel unique, not only because of the mix of genres, but also because much of the action and horror takes place on the beautiful sunny ocean near Australia’s Gold Coast.
