Can I assume this can be used to monitor DaVinci Resolve?

Curiously it's not mentioned on the product's page.

I was incorrect in posting that it had not been tested with Resolve yet. It has been tested and will work with Resolve.

Sorry about that confusion.

I am very unclear as to how the UltraStudio Mini Recorder works. Is there an internal flash drive, or does it record to an external drive. How do you set it - via USB on a laptop ? What resolutions does it record (ProRes, DNxHD, etc.). The website is very vague about exactly what this does, and how you use it, and where it records to.

I was also wondering what UltraStudio Mini Recorder
 is supposed to do.
So far I think it is only working with a laptop because otherwise the featureset looks a lot like Hyperdeck where you record to SSD directly from your D800 or RED cam using ProRes.

The Mini Recorder and Mini Monitor are simply one way, single function Thunderbolt I or O devices.

The Mini Monitor will plug into a TBolt port and allow you to OUTPUT SDI and HDMI signals.

The Mini Recorder will plug into a TBolt port and allow you to INPUT SDI and HDMI signals.

That's all they do. Very simple single function devices. If ALL you need is to Input OR Output via a Tbolt port, then one of these devices will do the job.

If you need a device that does both Input AND Output, then these are not the devices you need.

Dwaine,

Does this mean that the Mini Monitor responds just like an external display would to the OS?

ie: I would be able to select a resolution and it would simply be an extension of my desktop?

Thanks,
Richard

No Richard, it does not mean that.

It means you can select the Mini Monitor as a Video I/O device in Resolve, and get the Resolve color corrected signal output as an HD-SDI signal that you can feed to a color grading monitor.

I imagine the same is true with the Media Express application, that you can play supported media clips in Media Express, and output them as an HD-SDI signal to something that can accept an HD-SDI input.

Many thanks! I'll stick with the DVI extender then!
