Latency Tester

PostThu Jun 27, 2024 6:50 pm

I’m looking for a product that can provide an end-to-end video latency measurement.

It would generate a test video with a time stamp then look at the time stamp after we send the video back into the test unit. The actual test will be run as: Encoder -> IP Network -> Decoder

Does anyone know of a product and where I could locate one?

Thanks!

Hi! I think for end-to-end video latency measurement, check out Sencore VideoBRIDGE VB330, Phabrix SxE/Qx series, or Telestream PRISM. These tools generate time-stamped test videos and measure latency across IP networks, which are available through pro video distributors like B&H and Adorama.

A latency tester is a tool or device used to measure the delay, or "latency," in data transmission over a network or between devices. Latency refers to the time it takes for data to travel from a source to its destination and back, typically measured in milliseconds (ms). A latency tester helps identify any lag or delay, which can affect performance in online activities such as gaming, video conferencing, or data transfers.
