Mouse Infestation

PostMon Sep 20, 2021 7:25 pm

Gotta hardware question and can't of a better group to ask. I use a Mac and with that use the standard Apple three button corded mouse. I go through about one every year or two and work constantly to keep the center button clean and oil free so it doesn't slip. I tried some other brands but my productivity dropped significantly and as a result came back. My last one lasted two years but then the cord developed a rip in the vinyl jacket.

With all that said I could use some advice. I know there's a great deal of talent here. How do you all move your cursor?

Thanks...

I use a Logitech MX vertical mouse, which is much more ergonomic than a standard mouse. It has five buttons and a scroll wheel; I'm really happy with it. I've used a few other vertical mice over the years and this one's the best. You can use it wirelessly but I hate wireless mice with a passion (they always seem to disconnect randomly or they're not available at boot, or the battery runs out at inopportune times); I use mine directly wired to my keyboard, which in turn is connected to my computer by wire. I tried wireless keyboards and mice for a few years and went back to wired, so much better (for me).

I use the cordless version of the Logitech, but they last a few years for me. And more customisable, more buttons, scrolls in both axis and gestures.

Wow! two years!
I like track balls... what can I say... Mice just don't do it for me.
These things just can't put up with my gentile use (hehe.) I have been through so many... maybe cheaper and more volume... but personal comfort counts.
My advice: By one that has a warranty longer than your failure rates. That's what I'm trying now.

I use the Kensington Expert Track Ball, wireless version. Though, I just started using the wireless version a few weeks ago after many years of using the wired version. Personally, I can't stand the need to move a mouse around on the table, so vertical or not, normal mice are not for me. I've never had wrist pains after switching to the Trackball, and in the case of the Expert mouse, it's pretty precise because the ball itself is so big, so you're not trying to do surgical movements with a tiny ball. Four programmable buttons, with two extra combined button assignments.
