Which app to choose?

PostWed Aug 10, 2022 11:40 am

Hi all, I just signed up for the forum. I understand Blackmagic Design develops video editing software, can you tell me which app is better for non-professionals?

Blackmagic makes only one NLE, and it's definitely meant for professionals.

If you wish to go down this path, BMD has made available some really great training.

If you're not so much interested in spending that kind of time learning, there are easier consumer-level NLE's.

Filmora seems pretty popular.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Don't let the fact that Resolve is intended to be professional software put you off. I'm not a professional editor or colorist but have been using Resolve for over five years.
As Daniel says, download the free version and give it a try. Resolve does require decent hardware to run properly. These are the current minimum computer specs.
