Fusion9_SpaceShip_Project download from Black Magic Site

PostSat Feb 04, 2023 9:25 am

I downloaded the free file "Fusion9_SpaceShip_Project" from the BM site, to see how quickly my Windows PC could render this out, and basically gave up as it was reckoning over a day to output this, no matter what resolution I elected for final output.

I then thought... I have an M1 iPad, lets see how quickly that will do it compared to my PC, and needless to say that's when I soon discovered that this was not going to work..

When trying to bring the project over, whenever the spaceship .obj file is trying to be imported, resolve just crashes. I've tried numerous ways to to and redo this from scratch, but to no avail...

So I'm wondering if the reasons for this could be:
I need to buy the fuller version for the iPad.
The iPad version of Resolve just isn't designed for any fusion based parts...
I'm just pretty useless and doing something wrong!

Needless to say this is just one of those things you do when bored, and then waste time trying to resolve the problem (see what I did there :) ) when there are more important things to spend time on.. but... but... I really am interested in knowing how much of a difference rendering this on the M1 iPad would be!

Hey Gordon, sorry btw :D
But since I cannot answer, a few hints :

I don't know but I'm 95% confident you don't cos' it's not the source of your issue
The iPad version of Resolve just isn't designed for any fusion based parts...

Here indeed I'm 99,5% sure it's not
I'm just pretty useless and doing something wrong!

No opinion here, waiting to read your link; but so far, as a .obj (or fbx or any 3D asset) is involved, I would personally import it in Fusion Studio instead, and therefore I cannot comment the multiple reasons why it failed (but I'd drop the iPad way for sure)

It's on the Fusion product page.

https://downloads.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion/landing/projects/Fusion9_SpaceShip_Project.zip

I rendered in Fusion Studio 18 on Windows, using an Intel i9-13900K in about 26 minutes. RAM usage tended to hover around 2GB but peaked at around 4GB. 100% CPU usage so not much for the GPU to do (RTX4090).
