Quadro Sync II and Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro

PostThu May 25, 2023 11:26 am

Hello,
I have a computer with a Quadro Sync II, NVIDIA RTX A6000 graphics card and a Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro capture card.

My idea is to be able to synchronize the DeckLink 8K Pro with the Quadro Sync II. The problem is that the Quadro Sync II can output a third-party sync signal of the TTL sync type but the DeckLink 8K doesn't recognize it as a sync signal. It only supports Tri-Sync or Black Burst. Is there any way to solve this problem and be able to synchronize the two cards? Any sync converter?
The Quadro Sync II can also be configured to take an external signal but it does not recognize sync signals sent by a Blackmagic Sync Generator.

Thank you very much in advance for the help.

I run both of these cards with an external generator (don't recall which off the top of my head right now).

The Quadro Sync 2 doesn't support black burst but it does support tri-level. What do you have your sync generator set to output?

To synchronize the Quadro Sync II with the DeckLink 8K Pro capture card, you'll need to convert the TTL sync signal from the Quadro Sync II to a format that the DeckLink 8K Pro recognizes, such as Tri-Sync or Black Burst. There are sync converters available in the market that can help you achieve this.

Here are a few options you can consider:

Sync Generator: Look for a dedicated sync generator that supports Tri-Sync or Black Burst output. Connect the sync generator to the Quadro Sync II, and then use the output from the sync generator to sync the DeckLink 8K Pro.

Sync Converter: There are sync converters available that can convert TTL sync signals to Tri-Sync or Black Burst. You can use a converter between the Quadro Sync II and the DeckLink 8K Pro to convert the signal to a compatible format.

When selecting a sync generator or converter, make sure it supports the specific sync signal formats required by the DeckLink 8K Pro and can handle the resolution and frame rates you intend to use.

It's also a good idea to consult the technical specifications and documentation of both the Quadro Sync II and the DeckLink 8K Pro to ensure compatibility and find recommended solutions for sync synchronization.

If you're uncertain about the specific hardware or configurations needed for your setup, it may be helpful to reach out to the manufacturers of the Quadro Sync II, the DeckLink 8K Pro, or professional audio/video equipment specialists who can provide guidance and recommend appropriate solutions for synchronizing the two cards effectively.

Remember to thoroughly research and consider the compatibility, features, and capabilities of any sync generator or converter before making a purchase to ensure it meets your requirements.

Thanks for the help!! Until today I have not been able to test.
The project I'm working on runs at 1080p 50Hz. So I have configured windows with Nvidia drivers. I have tried with The Blackmagic Sync Generator but it does not have a 1080p 50Hz sync signal. As an alternative I am testing at 720p 50Hz and 1080i 50Hz and neither syncro signal is recognized by the Quadro Sync II. Mike, when you told me that Quadro Sync II supported Tri Sync, I've also tried 1080p 25Hz and it has recognized it but it's not worth working at 25 FPS. I'm a bit blocked. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong.
Any more ideas?
Thank you.
