PostThu Jun 29, 2023 1:58 pm

I wanted to know whether permission is needed to put the BlackMagic Design logo in the credits of an amateur movie

I will say err on the right side and get permission. Otherwise if you get a ceased letter, you’ll have to remove all logos in all your materials and deliverables hitch can caused you money, and worse being sued.

If it implies bmd backing you in any way meaning that whoever sees it might think that bmd sponsored you or agrees with what you are prsenting or then steer clear do not use it nor that from another company or group.

Are you suggesting a credit saying "Edited using BMD Resolve" and using the logo?

Normally logos are on the end of a film by contractual arrangement and usually cash changing hands or other inducements. EG a discount of kit or mutual advertising deal.

As someone from BMD has asked for your contact details it might appear it is not an automatic "NO!" so it would help if BMD mentions the broad guidelines for this so others can know if it is worth asking BMD for this.

The Blackmagic Design logo was seen in the end credits for Avatar 2, so it's possible with the formal approvals.

Theoretical question (because I don't do this) Is it OK to say "Edited using BMD Resolve" (and NOT using the logo) without having to ask permission?
