Find a very good monitor for color grading

Hi there,
I'm new to this forum...

I have the following question: I need a very good monitor for color grading!
Which one can you recommend to me, what do your experiences say?

Although I currently have an ASUS from the PROART series, it is not 100%
HDR - capable (but probably 98% P3) and THAT is an important feature for me.
I also want to color-grade in HDR.. (I use the current one for DaVinci Resolve monitoring!)

I am aware that "correct REFERENCE MONITORS" cost several thousand in price
I'm looking for one for a "good start" in the profession, the price may start at 2000 euros
and on...!

My selection (If you can think of another one!) is the following:

a) ASUS ProArt OLED PA32DC
a) alternatively the : ASUS ProArt PA32UCX-PK as IPS
c) LG OLED Fine Art 32EP950-B
d) Eizo CG2420 ColorEdge

Sub-question 1a: I noticed from an OLED that the image changes when it "stands" for a long time
"burns in"! Is that really the case and can you even recommend an OLED?

What do you say about the listed monitors, which ones you have already had experience with?
What can you say about that?

is it possible that you are mixing things up?
The P3 color space is not HDR. For HDR you would need a monitor with at least 1000 nits brightness, better more.

If you want learn the art of color grading I'd recommend to better invest into a good SDR monitor.
I am using the Eizo ColorEdge CS2740 together with a i-One Color Pro probe for calibration.

The great thing about this Eizo is that it is 10bit per color (so no banding), UHD, and the probe can be used directly with the monitor and calibration results will be adjusted in the Eizo - so you are not depended on the operating system color management. This works very well with Davinci Resolve.

I agree with Robert. A good SDR monitor will do much good. HDR is more about nits really. The Eizo or the Flanders are great monitors.

Wasn’t EIZO one of the monitors in your selection list?

You might also want to check out BenQ.

Note: Don’t underestimate the BenQ EW3270U by judging its price. This one produces true blacks that pretty comparable to OLED. VA monitors requires viewing directly frontal and if you can set it up as such, the colors are truly amazing.

Hello, sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm very interested in your experiences with these monitors.

Can anyone help me choose between Eizo CS2740 (with EX 4) vs LG 27BP95E? I'm just getting into color grading to record multicamera setups of higher-end classical music artists. Nothing for broadcast yet, but I want it to look very professional.

Larry, I can only comment on the EIZO because that’s what I am using. I am highly satisfied with its performance and quality. No negative issues.

Thank you very much, that's helpful. I think one of the main differences between the LG 27BP95E and EIZO ColorEdge CS2740 is OLED vs not.

I am not missing OLED, but I had not chance to do a comparison. Sure, you get deep blacks but I am not sitting in the darkness in my studio, so that is less relevant for me.

I am using Philips Hue lamps where you can set the white balance and dim the lights via app.

Hello everyone, I currently have two production monitors, but the colors on them are not good. My latest purchase was a JVC 24" ProHD but I can never get it calibrated.

I'm thinking of getting a new Flanders DM211.

Any other recommendations? I'm used to SDI, but I will be happy if the monitor produces accurate Rec709.
