Wireless Monitoring for BMD Cameras - Hollyland Mars 400s

PostMon Sep 28, 2020 8:16 pm

Hey everyone! I've been a BMD user for a long time--starting with the BMPCC OG in 2015; which I used to shoot my second feature with (HERITAGE). I still own the OG, along with the 4K and BMCC 2.5K MFT. Each obviously has it's place in my toolbox.

Hollyland recently hooked up with the Mars 400s and I LOVE IT! It works with all of my BMD models (thanks to both the HDMI and SDI input), so it's no issue with the BMCC or when I use the URSA Mini 4.6 at my work.

I've used it for a few trickier shoots where the wireless monitoring made it 100% necessary to pull off the shot--largely because it is mounted on my Moza Gimbal and required "hands-off" functions like wireless focus and a mimic. (That, and the screen was not visible and running a cable would have not made the gimbal motors happy..)

I am super excited to see what I am able to come up with for new places to hang, hide or fly my Pocket 4k with this. I can't believe it took so long for me to finally go wireless.. I've rented a rig a few times--but it's so dope to finally have an affordable and reliable option of my own!

Anyone else using the Mars 400s?--Or am I late to the party?
