I think 60% is the 'sweet spot' for slow motion. Filming at 24, all we need is 40.

420 fps? Yep, one digit too much.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

The price.

What you say may well be it. Other people have uses for such high motions. The NHK suggested rates for 2D go to 120fps, 3D 240fps. So, 96fps, might good at 60fps television.

I think TV should be either 24 (scripted) or 48 (sports).

KISS applies here.

Well, I'm from PAL, so 25 and 50 fps :). You can slow that down/drop frames and co a 4% audio pitch shift to get 24fps.

But there is another issue that PAL people don't notice. People complain about the strobing effects of 50hz lights and signals which goes away until above 70hz or so, it's gone. So, there are reasons for higher refresh rates. Me, myself, my health varies a lot with malnutrition, and I've turned off flourescent lights and seen the after image flickering at 50hz sometimes, which is how the brain compensates for this flicker, doing a dark correction 50 times a second.
