How much to charge

PostThu Nov 05, 2020 11:56 am

I know this is a how long is a piece of string question but I'd like to get a feel for what people are charging for streaming events...
Say a 3 camera shoot, 2 operators and a static camera, 1 director, prep time for graphics and planning...no lights etc just sound and picture...
Any thoughts? How do people price these things? Fee for switcher/director... price per camera/operator?

Any help would be appreciated.. working in Ireland but curious about any pricing..

As some wag said to me: Half what you want and twice what they want to pay :-)

Seriously it will depend on what it is, where it is, who it is for.
Who you are and (in the current time) do you need the work.
You don't even give a hint as to which continent you are on let alone which country this is happening in etc.

My pricing is 2x the labor. So it ends up like this:

Labor = 50%
Taxes = 30%
Profit = 20%
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
