Hey everyone,

Just wanted to pick some brains about potential methods for getting a stubborn piece of dirt out from the inside of a zoom lens? Pic below...

I've tried a good air compressor but it won't shift...looking to see what options there might be before taking it to a specialist to be dismantled!

Thanks,
Garry

Only thought I have is that it'll have to be taken apart.

Thanks Jim, I did find a good video to do it, so I'm gonna give it a go at some point.

Here's the vid for anyone else, should they encounter the problem (specific to a Sigma 17-50mm):

Last year during lockdown I had some time and had a busted focus on a manual lens and some dust inside.
I figured it was busted anyway so it wouldn't be much of a lose if I tried to fix the focus and clean everything.

So I disassembled everything being careful not to break, lose anything or put anything back together in the wrong order.
It worked great and I actually fixed two more lenses the same way and then even graduated to fixing an old DSLR.

So I guess if you don't want to spend money, you can try and clean it yourself.

Good luck.

Great to hear that! I love fixing stuff and saving the cash, and making use of old and broken lenses.
