Blackmagic cameras White?

PostSun Jul 24, 2022 4:01 pm

I like black bodies but… recently I shoot a lot under the sun, and black body warm more than silver body. For the same reason bigger zoom are often white and not black, to avoid heat.
Anyone can be disturbed if Blackmagic Design develop camera white instead of black?
Do you buy in same way? Like some photo camera producer that do black and silver body.
I know that Blackmagic Design produce so little number of cameras that cannot decide to waste production splitting in dual color, but… a white camera can be a problem for you?
Obviously not white milk, but too simple to dirty, but light white, cream color

Both the Red Komodo and V-Raptor are available with white bodies. Unfortunately they are a lot more expensive than Blackmagic's cameras.

I don’t mind a white one as long as the price is the same as the blacks. The problem I see with colored versions of the same camera and lenses is that they are more expensive than the blacks. If that is the case, then no.

my example is about fuji where you can choose at same price, i had an x-t4 black, my friend help me with his silver x-t4, all same setup, we work at 1 meters under the sun, mine went warm, his fuji was far a way cool than mine (both did the work for all four hours of work).

i remember many work did with my bmpc4k silver and also if was warm, also under the hard sun, never a problem about overheating. For this reason i talk about white // silver bodies.

From a purely aesthetic point of view, white or silver would work with a metal chassis but it would be difficult for a plastic, excuse me, fiber polycarbonate composite, camera body to not look like a toy. This is from Camskns.com, move over Stormtrooper. Joking aside it may do exactly what you need.

Good Luck

I'm about to pull the trigger on a micro cinema camera for drone use but can't find any real information about the crop factor.

Some say 3x, some 2,88x...I suspect that it's 2,88x like the pocket, but would like to have it verified.

Henry, you need to ask this question in the Cinematography section of the forum.
This thread is about the merits, or not, of white camera bodies.
