Hi, folks. I keep getting a notice that "The value you submitted is too long" while creating my profile.

I've pared it down to the bare minimum I can, and still sound human, without success. Unless I have too many interests.

Suggestions about how I can get the profile accepted? The forum doesn't specify WHICH value is too long.

I'm guessing that you should shorten up the "Interests" section. Or is that not working?

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike, but I cut my interests down to about 10 words yesterday, and THAT wouldn't even go through. I didn't want to look like a lurker in the forum, but I've spent so much time trying to complete the profile that I'm at the point of just giving up.

I believe those multi line fields are either limited to 128 or 255 or less (not sure about the 255) characters. More likely less than 200 characters. So keep your interest to what you think is the most interesting to share that it’s less than or equal to 128 characters to be on the safe side.

Anyway, for what it’s worth, I don’t think anyone cares about the member profiles other than what hardware/software they have that can help with diagnostics when sharing an issue post.

Thank you, Ellory. I think you're likely right--no one would care about much other than tech support/hardware/solutions anyway.

I figured out how to finish my profile. Fill out one box at a time. Click submit. Go back to the profile page. Fill out another box. Click submit ... Repeat until your profile is completed.

Obviously a bug, and inefficient, but it works.
