Product Development Suggestion...Dedicated ISO recorder.

PostThu May 11, 2023 1:06 am

This is for the product developers at BMG...

I have considered picking up a SDI Mini ISO to act as nothing more than a four camera ISO recorder and only because there's nothing else out there in the industry that I've found that will do this for that price point. The problem is, I do not need another switcher.

So I would like to make a product development suggestion. Since the hardware and software already exist for this kind of functionality within the ATEM ISO line of switchers, would you consider making a standalone dedicated ISO recorder unit based on that hardware and software

I would suggest that while you could do two different versions; a four camera and an 8 camera (based on the extreme ISO), but frankly I wouldn't bother with the four camera version.

As long as the price point is comparable to the switchers, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

The only thing I've found that will do this is the AJA KiPro Go which is approximately $5,000 USD MSRP.

If you're willing to pay the same price, why not just buy the switcher? What would be the point of building a MUCH less functional unit, except to get a better price?

And given the very low price of that hardware already...
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
