I've heard that the "Big 5" most-respected film festivals to consider entering are Sundance, Cannes, Berlin, TIFF, and Venice. Anyone got other recommendations, especially for a documentary short? Anyone familiar with Edinburgh?

The Big 5 carry unmatched prestige for filmmakers. Tribeca Film Festival is a great fit for documentary shorts, with a strong doc-friendly program. Edinburgh’s festival is another highlight, known for inspiring short film screenings. I once visited a lively casino https://winnitacasino-italy.net/ after a late-night Edinburgh screening, adding a thrilling twist to the festival experience. DOK Leipzig is also worth considering for its deep documentary focus. Their submission deadlines are strict, so stay organized. A compelling film can shine in their competitive lineups.

The Big 5 are tough to beat, but Sheffield DocFest is excellent for documentary shorts. Edinburgh’s vibe is unique too loved their short film program last year.

Personally, I’d say Cannes takes the spotlight. We actually talked about this last week with telemundo customer support, and interestingly enough, they shared the same opinion. Of course, when it comes to festivals like these, it all comes down to personal taste—everyone has their favorite for different reasons. Still, there’s something about the atmosphere and prestige of Cannes that really stands out to me.
