Codec (avc1) not Found in Repository & "GPU Memory is full"

PostFri Nov 01, 2024 8:12 pm

Running Linux Mint 22 (based on Ubuntu 24.04) I have been able to get DaVinci Resolve 19.3 to launch and open projects without crashing. However I am getting a few issues:

1.) Errors in Log In the '.local/share/DaVinciResolve/logs/ResolveDebug.txt' Codec (avc1) not Found in Repository. Below is shown only two line of many
Code: Select all
0x7e0273a00000 | IO.Audio | ERROR | 2024-11-01 13:21:05,868 | Failed to decode clip </home/[...]/Videos/DaVinci Resolve/tuts/Editing/[file name].mp4>, track: 0, position: 24428275 - Failed to decode the audio samples.

2.) Pop up message in Resolve: "Your GPU Memory is full." I'm not quite sure how to fix this one.

3.) DaVinci Resolve does not display any movie files. Audio and image files are fine. I assume this relates to the 1st issue.

Code: Select all
[...]:~$ sudo apt install mint-meta-codecs
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
mint-meta-codecs is already the newest version (2023.08.28+mint21.2).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
[...]:~$ sudo apt install ffmpeg
Reading package lists... Done

Reading state information... Done
ffmpeg is already the newest version (7:6.1.1-3ubuntu5).

I hope I have provided enough information to start finding a solution.

Thank you,
Stan

Does anyone have an idea why I am unable to view any movie or image files? I hear audio just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not see avc1 listed in the Supported Codecs document.

The GPU Memory is full" implies you are doing something like Magic Mask or Noise Reduction that is beyond what your GPU can handle.

This is a fresh install and I was just trying to load the "Introduction to Editing" tutorial on https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/training.

Regarding "avc1" that is the error I found in the Resolve logs.

I'm a noobie regarding Resolve.
Thank you,
