can't collaborate...

PostThu Nov 07, 2024 8:16 pm

Hello Everyone!

I can't collaborate - I've got two computers connected to the same switch, having the same network (the same mask).
If I run first and open project - the port 50059 is open - netstat -an | find "50059"
TCP 0.0.0.0:50059 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING

But when the second one is trying to open project - the ugly Cannot Enable Collaboration: Please ensure that machines are not connected using a VPN and that DaVinci Resolve is not being blocked by the system firewall..

It isn't VPN, it is blocked - I can telnet from second machine to the first on that port.

If reverse the order and first run project on second machine - the situation is reversed - now second is listening on 50059 and I can telnet to it from first machine , but when first is trying to join - the ugly message appears on first one....

Very frustrating...

For Collaboration, you need a DaVinci Resolve Project Server.
You didn't mention this in your discussion.

It can technically be on the same system as Resolve, but it is usually a third computer with the DaVinci Resolve Project Server running.

Do I have to run it? I have postgresql server on other machine where can't run Project Server (NAS). I really don't want to have machine runing all time. I thought that it is enugh to have postgresql server and possibility to communicate between clients

If you think that you can set it up and share the access keys yourself you can. But we advise the process we suggest and support, as per the manual, with the DaVinci Resolve Project Server.

Both computers can access project without any problems. But not in the same time. So I wonder where's the problem - i try to understand the whole process.
first - any computer has to have access to 5432 port of postgres - checked
second - any computer has to have access to other computers to port 50059 - also checked - I can access to this port if it is first. so no firewall problem..
But what is happening when second one is trying to access - it got project data from postgresql - checked - and.... is trying to do something which fails... But what???
