DaVinci Resolve “Quit Unexpectedly” times - new user

My first day with DaVinci Resolve. I have a new iMac (3 months old). Am switching from Final Cut Pro 7 (which I’ve used for over 10 years) on my old iMac.

Started up the app and got a notification that there was an upgrade, so I downloaded and installed 19.1.3.
Opened the app to learn how to use it. Explored the interface, viewed a tutorial video. I want to learn using a real project and imported one of my FCP7 projects into DaVinci (using the XML file).

Looked good. Video and edits were intact. Only the format of the Titles (there are 5 in this 7-minute video) weren’t right — instead of lower left, they were centered and with a different and much smaller font. I searched for how to work with Titles and followed the steps. Clicked on the Titles tab, then clicked on Inspector. DaVinci QUIT! Tried several more times. Same result. Restarted computer and tried again. “Quit Unexpectedly” more than 8 times. SO frustrating!

Also tried just adding a new Title, intending to delete old ones. Scrolled through Timeline to find where to put it. Quit Unexpectedly… again. I can’t learn DaVinci Resolve now. Don’t know what to do. Help?

You need to un-restrict access to your google drive link.

Have you tried deleting the titles prior to the generation of the XML? If they have to be reworked anyway, leave them out and isolate a variable.

Ah! I don't use Google Drive often. I used it this time because I saw someone else had to share their log.

Thanks for the reply. But, as I wrote earlier, deleting the titles with the intention of replacing them is one of the things I thought of and tried. But when I was scrolling to locate any of the titles to delete it, the app quit before I could even do that.

I misread what you wrote!! Sorry about that. I HAD tried last night deleting the titles prior to generating the XML. But until I reread your message just now, I forgot that I didn't follow through in opening that in DaVinci Resolve. I had simply moved on to other work that wasn't nearly as frustrating. But I'm going to try to finish that experiment right now. I'll let you know if that works.

Aha!! Yes! That seems to work... so far. I deleted the titles in FCP7, then generated the XML, then imported the project into DaVinci Resolve and went about recreating the titles. No crashing. I taught myself how to adjust them (position, font, size, duration) to match what I had before. Now I just need to figure out how to add a cross-dissolve at the start and end of each title. As I said, I'm only just learning how to use DaVinci. I hadn't yet gotten to learning the editing features. I wanted to get a project in there to work with first. And... I think I can do that now. Hallelujah! Thanks for that simple solution. Much appreciated!
