Bring iMovie project into DaVinci Resolve?

PostFri Mar 21, 2025 12:05 am

I've searched but can't find the answer. I've been a Final Cut Pro 7 user for years. I also have some simple projects I created using iMovie while I hadn't yet taken the dive into DaVinci Resolve.

Is there a way to move... or open... or import an iMovie project into DaVinci Resolve? I don't see a way to export an XML file from iMovie.

It seems I might have to start over and recreate what I had in iMovie. I know I could also "share" the iMovie project as a file and continue editing using that file... or pieces of that project split into separate files. I was just hoping there was a way to save the edits.

I have:
iMovie 10.4.3
DaVinci Resolve 19.1.3

iMac 2024
Apple M4 chip
16 GB memory
MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2

I also have:
Final Cut Pro 7
& Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 (which I have only used a few times)
