DR Studio no longer starts, reinstallation does not work

PostSat Apr 26, 2025 2:27 pm

Version 19 worked perfectly until today. Now it no longer starts. Reinstallation (19.1.4) does not work either.
Requesting a new password on the Blackmagic website does not work either (I have forgotten the password and user name, but not my e-mail address, sorry).
So nothing works today, even though I urgently need to complete a project.

Now I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled DR and also updated the drivers for the graphics card (why? It worked before), and now at least version 20b is running.

Nice surprise: After editing a video in DR 20b, I reinstalled Studio version 19.1.4. I get the message, that my timeline is not compatible with 19.x, only with a newer version. Thank you very much.

This morning DR 19.1.4 didn't start no more. Shall I regret to have paid DR Studio? Only stress the last days.

And now I have deactivated my VPN an DR starts. Do Blackmagic insists to turn off my internet security since DR obviously verifys my DR licence while starting?

If you had read the release notes posted at the top of the forum you would have seen this warning.

As to your VPN, a known problem especially with Nord, though I don't use one, I think you an set it up to allow Resolve to start. There are plenty of other posts on this subject, usually under headings such as "Resolve will not start".

If you have Topaz installed, that's a problem.

Assuming you are on Windows, we need the following information to be able to assist you:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows Desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open the Windows System Information app and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here. Make sure the links don't require access credentials.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.
