Removing an object from a Single Frame

PostWed Nov 05, 2025 1:35 am

Hello. Am new to Resolve and trying to finish a video for this weekend.

How can I remove an object in a single frame?

This tutorial below is helpful, but doesn't appear to work unless you are tracking a moving object throughout an entire video...

The object that I need to remove is just in a single frame, and when I follow that tutorial, it tracks through my entire video clip which is about 10-minutes long.

Had this same issue this weekend, and what happened was that it removed the object that I wanted removed, but then added weird artifacts to later frames because the original object was no longer in the video.

The only solution I could figure out was to cut my video into a short segment, and that seemed to work.

However, when I cut a single frame in my video now and try the tutorial, I can see it tracking through what appears to be my entire video.

In an ideal world, I would take the next year to master Resolve, but my video is 95% done and I just need to remove some random objects out of a couple places to complete my video, so it can be used this weekend.

This is probably a super simple fix if only I knew what to do.

Would appreciate some help trying to meet my deadline.
Sincerely,

I don’t understand why the object is just on a single frame, or is it not? But assuming it is just on a single frame, just cut or trim that one frame and be done with it. It’s that simple unless there is more to the story you’re not sharing.

The only thing I have been able to figure out for my problem is this...

When I have an offending object in frame, I use the blade tool and cut around that frame - but not cutting it out..

Then I use the Dead Pixel Fixer (whatever that is called) to remove the offending object

It has mostly solved my issue, but the whole process seems crude, and I certainly need a most sophisticated approach moving forward.

(I guess my approach is basically a "hack" akin to using the "magic wand" in MS Paint or maybe Photoshop.)
