PTZ camera from Blackmagic

PostSun May 16, 2021 6:40 am

We have been researching PTZ cameras for streaming live concert events and most of them seem pretty poor quality visually. Their outputs look like a consumer camcorder much of the time.

Would BM consider making a PTZ with the internals of a Pocket cinema camera?

The only PTZ camera we would consider would be the recently released Canon CR-N500 which has a 1.0 sensor and up-to-date operability.

Have you looked into the Blackmagic micro cinema camera and the micro 4K studio camera? They are better option than a PTZ camera.

If they would they will never tell you untill it's there and ready to ship... ;)

There are several 1" sensor cameras on the market, Panasonic UE150 ( which is the camera everybody is using nowaday in production )
Birddog P4K has a 1" sensor..

The other way is a MicroStudio camera with a PT head and a good lens that has both controls.. But in the end it's still a hobby solution and wont work as a whole system..

We'll be having the loan of one of the new 1.0" sensor Canon PTZ's to see how we like the look of the pictures. So far I have not been tempted by the ones from other manufacturers we have worked with. We need a camera for on-stage work with orchestras, and so far we have stuck with a locked-off DSLR style form factor solution - because the pictures are more compatible with our documentary form factor main cameras.

A BM 6k pocket camera or DSLR makes decent pictures which are matchable and do not look like high-end surveillance or look crusty and blown like pictures off a consumer camera.
