Lag on a gaming laptop

PostFri Jul 30, 2021 3:11 am

Hi everyone,

I'm new to Resolve and I'm trying to run it on my MSI gp75 Leopard gaming laptop. It has an Intel i7 10th Gen CPU, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB GPU with 16 GB RAM. The laptop also has an integrated GPU on the Intel CPU. Initially it was working fine, but as soon as I layered 2 videos on each other and edited a picture in picture the whole program started to lag. I'm ok with a little lag in playback, but it's to the point where I can't time the videos accurately.

I've set Timeline Proxy Mode to Quarter Resolution
Render Cache is set to Smart
Fusion Memory Cache is set to Auto

In Preferences I've set GPU Processing mode to CUDA
GPU Selection is the RTX 2070

I'm not sure what else to do to try and fix this. Any ideas?

I am running the free version currently to try it out, and was thinking about upgrading to studio, but I want to make sure it'll work before I go ahead.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers
