DeckLink Studio 4K HDMI capture resolution

PostThu Sep 29, 2022 7:41 am

I'm trying to find a device to capture video footage from an EOS R3 over HDMI.
The R3 supports, among others:
DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) at 23.98p/24.00p/25p/29.97p/50p/59.94p
(source- can't post urls)
I need to capture at minimum 4096x2160 29.97p.

The DeckLink specs(- can't post urls) state
4K Video Standards
4K DCI 23.98p, 4K DCI 24p, 4K DCI 25p*
* SDI Only

as well as
HDMI Resolution
Pixel for pixel up to 4K resolutions.

So I'm not 100% sure if it will be able to capture the output ok.

I'd appreciate it if anyone can cast some light on this.

The maximum DCI 4K resolution the DeckLink Studio 4K supports is 4K at 25fps.

If you need higher frame rates than that in DCI 4K, you would need to look at the DeckLink Quad HDMI Recorder which can handle 4K DCI up to 60p.

Or you could set the camera to record in Ultra HD (3840x2160) which is supported at up to 30fps on the DeckLink Studio 4K.

Thanks for the info.

I've decided to go with the Ultrastudio 4K Mini.

Having to manage another external device is a pototential headache but such is life.
