Separate XLR control for ATEM TVS HD?

PostSun May 31, 2020 6:08 pm

For the ATEM Television Studio HD, there are two XLR analog audio inputs. However, it seems impossible to control one XLR audio input separately to the other. Is this the case?

In our situation, we have two audio boards we wish to connect to the ATEM: The first is a "talk audio signals", mostly connecting to folks that primarily talk, not sing. The second is a "musician audio signals", where piano, guitar, singers are connected. Each board is connected by XLR to the ATEM TVS HD.

I would like to be able to independently mute one XLR input while keeping the second one on.

Even from software control, there is only a single XLR channel.

Am I missing something?

Actually, adding an external mixing board, and then feeding that to the XLR inputs of the ATEM TVS HD will not preserve the stereo signal. It appears the two XLR inputs cannot be panned L and R, and are instead summed into a mono signal.

The Mic input on the TVS HD is the front panel talkback mic. There is only one control for the XLR inputs on the rear panel (which are a stereo input and don't get mono-summed - if that's happening on your TVS HD, you need to be contacting support).
