SDI cable for VA 5" 12 G

PostFri Nov 20, 2020 2:06 am

Hi all - can anyone give me a link / name of a SDI cable that fits the Video Assist 5" 12G?

after waiting 2 months for the recorder to arrive I find the SDI cable for the Video Assist doesn't fit (must be for the previous version) and I haven't been able to track one down in New Zealand.
Ordered one from the USA and its been lost in the post.

12 weeks since first ordering the VA and I still cant use it.

cheers

oh, and if anyone form BMD sees this - adding a cable to the box would be awesome, I'd happily have paid a bit extra to be able to use my VA

Doesn't fit? Can you clarify?

SDI cables use the standard BNC connector. They're all the same size.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks Jim, the 5 inch uses a mini SDI connector, and seems to be 2 types of that, and seems like rare as hens teeth here in NZ.

Micro BNC or HD-BNC is the 12G VA connector.

Mini BNC or Din 1.0/2.3 is the 3G VA connector.

Laird or Alvin's Cables both work fine, couple days on amazon.

You're probably going to have a hard time sourcing them locally. Trying to source even a common BNC connector like a Kings 2065-10-9 can be difficult without a local Jameco or similar.

Good Luck

Thanks Howard will check these out.
Fortunately we have no shortage of standard BNC connector/cable, just the micro that's being elusive
