version 17 beta

PostWed Jan 27, 2021 11:10 pm

I was talking to a customer support person at Davinci earlier today. I am having trouble recording any audio, either with an interface or with the built in mic on my Mac book pro. He said that the beta version might have bugs in it. Should I get a different version?
If so, which version?

What exact version of Resolve are you trying to use?

Is your MacBook Pro a traditional Intel machine, or a new M1 machine?

What OS are you using?

What audio interface are you using? How is it connected to the MBP?

I am using DaVinci Resolve 17.0B Build 15 Public Beta

The MacBook Pro is not the M1.

The OS is 10.15.7 Catalina (I heard that Sibelius doesn't work on Big Sur, so I didn't install it) Actually I tried once (before I knew Sebelius wouldn't work on it), but it said I didn't have enough storage. Since then, I have dumped a lot of stuff on a 2TB external hard drive, so I would have room to install it, but I use Sibelius, so I am not going to install it.

The audio interface is a Zoom H5. You answered my other question about getting the Zoom H5 to work, by adding DaVinci to Mac Preferences - Security and Privacy as a microphone. That worked for me.

As far as "How is the interface connected to the MBP". I don't know what the MBP is. But it is connected to the computer via a USB cable.

Do you think that I will have problems running DaVinci with this MacBook. It seems that some of the transitions are jerky.

MBP is MacBook Pro.

How well it will work with Resolve depends on the specs of the machine, and what you are trying to do in Resolve.

Is there a reason you are using 17b5 and not the current 17b7 (which is build 23)?

How do I change to B7? I just downloaded it and have been using the same version since then.

On a Mac, there's no need to uninstall.
Don't approach Resolve with your expectations from other NLEs! They are all different.
