USB Video Recorder Software

PostWed Feb 03, 2021 1:56 pm

Hi All

I'm killing time in lockdown messing about with some old kit. One of the things I have is a BlackMagic Design USB Video Recorder.

Image

It is identified by Media Express and I can see by looking at its manual that it came with its own/different software. Is it still available anywhere?

Thanks

Scroll down to 09 July, 2012 on the official Support page and you'll find the software hiding next to the other Peking Zombies.

Good Luck

It's a shame this beautiful device (it even has component video input) has no support anymore, (on Linux maybe?) an alternative would be an Intensity device from BMD, but aslo these devices need research, if they are still supported on the newer OS's and MAC/PC hardware....

Does anyone still have a copy of this software? It seems that it has since been removed...

hi there, if anyone still has this software update please could you let me know. Black Magic have removed it from their support pages and I can't find it anywhere and need to capture some mini DV urgently for a project. My Black Magic Video Recorder was working just fine until the update on my old computer :-////
Thanks

Well you've said it yourself, by updating you destroyed your use of this capture device, you also need the operating system to degrade, to have it working.
The only best way to do any analog video capturing these days is to use a analog to SDI/HDMI converter, and then use a SDI/HDMI PCIe card or USB HDMI capture stick to transfer that to your computer.

Other wise you need an old PC with the correct old operating system, and old drivers/software to get it working, but that would not be an easy task.

Also be very sure that your resolution is supported by all of it.
