Capturing compressed video on intensity extreme?

I have two different setup.

With intensity pro with windows xp i can select two capture file format: AVI 8 bit YUV or AVI motion JPEG
with intensity extreme on mac OSX i have only one choice: Quicktime uncompressed.

For some video capture i would like to use a compressed video format on intensity extreme. How can i do this?

I have also two other questions

Does the AVI 8 bit YUV is a better quality than Quicktime uncompressed? It seems to me.

How can i do a capture from intensity extreme directly from Final cut?

The 8 bit AVI and Quicktime Uncompressed are both 8 bit Uncompressed, so there should be no quality difference. The Motion JPEG codec is of course compressed. And, on Mac if you have Final Cut Pro installed, Media Express should also have access to a few other codecs. With FCPX, you will have access to several flavours of ProRes, and with Final Cut Pro 7 I think you will have access to DVCPro and DVCProHD as well. If you have FCP installed on the same system, and are not seeing the ProRes codecs, re-installing Media Express may help.

Otherwise to capture other compressed codecs you will need a third party application that both supports the Intensity Pro, as well as captures into the codec you want to capture from. But I'm afraid I don't know of any applications in particular that would do the job.

If you are using Final Cut Pro 7, all you would need to do is select the Easy Setup (Final Cut Pro->Easy Setups) that matches the video format you are capturing and the codec you want to capture to, and then use the Log and Capture window (File->Log & Capture) to capture. However Final Cut Pro X doesn't have a capture utility, so you would need to use Media Express or another third party application.
