"Codec not supported" message on video assist?

PostWed Jul 07, 2021 3:43 pm

I'm currently setting up and getting used to the URSA Mini Pro 4.6k G2, but when I connect the 12G video assist it says "codec not supported" in the top left. I have the codec set to Blackmagic RAW, constant quality Q0. I've tried switching to ProRes and that has the same problem. I tried switching to ProRes on the video assist itself and that makes it work but when I switch back to RAW its back to "codec not supported" and no image. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help.

Just been looking into it, could the problem be that my SDI cable is only 6G rather than 12G?

Blackmagic Raw is supported on the VA12G, but only for specific third party cameras:
Blackmagic RAW Supported Cameras:
Canon EOS C300 Mark II, Nikon Z 6, Nikon Z 7, Nikon Z 6II, Nikon Z 7II, Panasonic AU-EVA1, Panasonic LUMIX S1H, SIGMA fp

As you can see, the Ursa Mini Pro 12G (nor any BMD camera) is on the list. Select BMD cameras with BRaw ability can record the raw codec internally. BMD did make a Raw recorder for some of the Ursa Mini’s but it appears, it is no longer supported.

I´ve got the black magic micro studio camera 4k. this cam has the ability to play out 12bit RAW via sdi since the last update and of course no internal recording, it´s the micro studio. Will the video assist 12G record the RAW signal from this cam? What media should I use for recording 12bit 4k 30fps
thanks a lot for reply.
