Video assist with EVA1 - no signal with ProRes

PostWed Sep 08, 2021 6:21 pm

Hi all,

I recently bought a BM video assist 5" for my EVA1. I've had no problem getting BRAW from it, but can't seem to get a signal with ProRes or DNxHR.

I'm running a 12g cable with SDI RAW out selected in camera. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be the issue? Been wracking my brains over this for a few hours now!

Thanks in advance!

If camera is in RAW mode it can't record normal video codecs only BRAW!! ;)

If you want to record DNxHD or Prores set your camera to normal SDI output 8-)

Thanks that sorted it!

I'm having a little trouble getting slow motion through though with prores and only seems to record in real time - any ideas on how to fix that?

Video Assist with EVA1 - can't record Prores slow motion

PostFri Sep 10, 2021 5:18 pm

I recently bought a 5" video assist for my EVA1. Prores records fine in real time through SDI - 24fps, 25fps etc, but can't seem to record in high frame rates, 48fps, 50fps, 60fps.

Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks

What model Video Assist (the original or the new generation) and are you recording 4K or 1080p?

See the manual (e.g., page 19 for the newer generation models at https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/629692.pdf) for details on the frame rates that can be recorded at various codecs and resolutions.

Yes you dont. Normal SDI is not fitted for ANYTHING above 60Fps.

Slomo can only be recorded inside the camera. Or some Atomos Recorders have options to record in 240Fps on HDMI.
