Cintel TB2 and Big Sur

PostFri Sep 17, 2021 11:13 pm

We updated an iMac Pro (wiped and installed Big Sur OS) with the latest versions of Resolve (17.3.1), Cintel drivers (4.1) and Desktop Video (12.1). The Cintel Scanner is not showing up in the Cintel App or Resolve. With Catalina everything was running fine. Are there known incompatibilities with the Cintel Scanner and Big Sur? We have the Cintel Scanner original with Thunderbolt 2. Thanks in advance

Hi Paul,

no it should all work and it's tested to do so. The only thing that really ever catches people out, is that in BigSur Apple changed how you accept the kernel extension for Desktop Video, it now forces you into the System Preferences/security during installation (whereas previously that was not required), where once you accept it makes you restart. If you did not experience that, you either missed it (as this is exclusive to big sur now) or something weird went on.

In general, in this scenario, I would be expecting that the 'Cintel Setup' utility shows a 'bad installation'.

In short, please uninstall everything and retry and if you are not ending up in the System Preference to allow Desktop Video after which it requests you restarted, you have to get to the bottom of that first.

Regards
