Frame Drops and Audio Sync

PostThu Dec 09, 2021 3:33 pm

When I capture video through my Intensity Pro Card, I get a moderate amount of frame drops: about 100 per hour. For my purposes, that's tolerable. No big deal. However, when I play the resulting .avi file, the audio is several seconds out of sync.

I'm guessing the audio sync problems occur because of the rame drops, but I'm not sure. Has anyone had this problem before? What is the solution? Is it possible for the audio to remain in sync with the video when frame drops occur?

Hi! What kind of footage was captured and in what format? Please bear in mind that if you are dealing with analog sources (eg. VHS/betamax/u-matic, etc.), then a TBC/frame synchronizer should be put in place between the source and the capture card in order to avoid drops and sync issues.
