Just a public service announcement, to possibly save someone else the hour that I just wasted:

If you have an Intel (non-M1) Mac, version 12.1 of Blackmagic Desktop Video is the latest one that will work.

Having a later version installed will result in the "No desktop video device detected" error when you open up the BM Desktop Video Preference pane.

Blackmagic Desktop Video & Big Sur

Hello all,

I am currently running Blackmagic Desktop Video 12.1 on Catalina and am looking to move up to Big Sur. Is anyone aware of any major compatibility issues between the two? I'm aware there were some issues a while back but I haven't been able to find anything recent to suggest there still is. I just want to be absolutely sure before making the switch.

Thanks

I'm running 12.1 on Big Sur with a Decklink 4K Extreme 12G, and it's working fine.
