Hello everyone,

I'm a bit confused about the SDI cable I'll need with my BMCC, in order to connect it to my external monitor. The truth is, I have zero knowledge on SDI connections, so I'll need your help!

When I search for 3G-SDI cables, most are SDI-to-BNC cables. Is BNC the same with SDI?

Also, are there 3G-SDI cables, or does this have to do with the connection of the camera only? In other words, will I need a 3G-SDI cable (is there such a thing?), or will a simple SDI cable work with the 3G-SDI connection on BMCC?

Please advise! Thanks! :)

BNC is the connections type. That is the industry standard connection.

If you order you cable from a camera shop it should be the correct spec and work. Ordering off eBay you may end up with a cable that is not upto spec.

Here are a few examples:

3G is 3rd generation. Most cables will work with no issue. The differences are in the hardware of the camera or the device receiving the signal.
