Input signal problem

PostSat Nov 30, 2013 10:10 pm

Hello, I bought yesterday the Blackmagic Duo. I have two cameras Sony DVCAM PowerHad Ex and Sony DVCam 3CCD.

The problem is that I cant get any signal input in Media Express. I try to connect directly the cameras with the Blackmagic Duo but I did not see any signal again. What I am doing wrong? Maybe is there a problem with my 6 pin SDI hub?

Have you had read the manual on how to setup the card properly?

Have you read the bit about how 1) you must know the exact video format you are trying to use and 2) configure that within the Blackmagic Design Control Panel and then 3) configure Media Express to have the same settings. (it seems that step 2 is the most frequently missed step... right after step 1... as many believe the cards should just "autosense" the input format... which of course they do not).

Have you done all of that?

Either way... post here ALL of the details of the camera sources you are using. Including the video format you have configured - and screen-shots of the blackmagic control panel settings you have configured.

Oh.. and this next bit MAY be the reason why your setup does not work (and won't ever work)

SDI is not the same as BNC.

Do you realize the Decklink Duo requires the input video to be using SDI? SDI = Serial Digital Interface. It happens to use a BNC connector. However..just because it is BNC may people also seem to assume that any video signal that outputs on BNC would be compatible. Problem is.. for many older camera they have BNC output - but that is ANALOG (composite) via BNC. THAT WON"T WORK. It has to be SD-SDI or HD-SDI format. The cameras you mentioned do not mention SDI format.. just analog composite.

So... I don't think you have any chance this will work.
