TVS not getting signal from source

Just wanted a little direction here. I am sending an hmdi signal out of the camera at 1080i (I have tried other settings too) into an HDMI extender to carry the signal about 75 feet. If I plug receiver module of the extender into a monitor directly I get a perfect picture. The receiver module recognizes the exact signal I send out of the camera and displays it for me on the monitor. If I change the camera signal to e.g. 780, 1080 p etc the monitor displays the corresponding change. However, when I try to run the signal from the extender receiver into the TVS instead I am unable to get a signal. That is to say, nothing shows up in the multi view interface. I suspect the TVS is unable to auto detect the the signal from the extender. Is there are way to force this?????

Easy fix.
Use an HDMI to SDI converter, instead of an HDMI over cat5 adapter.

The quicker you abandon your cat5 solution and go with SDI the sooner you will get everything working reliably.
there are some cheap HDMI to HD-SDI conerters available. so budget for somewhere between $85 (for a Cheapy)and $400 (for a blackmagic) for a converter, and you will get bulletproof reliability up to almost 100m, using 75ohm coax. (old composite video cable)

Also, the TVS never 'auto detects'
you have to click on the settings tab (at the bottom), and then change the input resolution to the right res AND framerate. (be sure whethter it is 60 or 59.94) and then click set. then try again.

I have a blackmagic sdi converter but the problem is that I am using multiple cameras and I couldn't get it to use the SDI converter and a directly connected (camera to TVS) hdmi signal at the same time. Shouldn't this be possible?

It is possible but every input must have exactly the same format. If you have 1080i on HDMI you must also have 1080i on the SDI input. Remember that input 3 and 4 on the TVS are switchable between hdmi and SDI so make sure that you have it at the desired input.
You didn´t say if the sdi converter are the HDMI - SDI one. It could make a difference because some converters have scaling and some have not.

To clarify, I must plug the camera, converter etc into input 3 or 4 on the TVS. If I plug it into any of the others it will default to HDMI.

Also, I am using the HDMI to SDI converter (Blackmagic) to transmit the signal over coax to the remote location. Should I reconvert it using an SDI to HDMI converter (Blackmagic) before plugging into the TVS? Can I do this? Does it even matter?

Inputs 1 and 2 are always hdmi, 5 &6 are always sdi, 3&4 are switchable.
As mentioned earlier, all your inputs must be the same res and framerate, and that must match exactly what you set the tvs to.
The only reason to convert back to hdmi at the tvs would be if you run out of sdi inputs
